New Birth Control Option
Posted: February 20, 2013
Boise State University Health Services is pleased to announce another option for birth control available from the Health Center. SkylaTM is a newly-approved intrauterine device (IUD). Like its cousins, Mirena and Paragard, it is highly effective in preventing pregnancy. SkylaTM differs in that it is smaller, easier to place, and only lasts 3 years. Full information on SkylaTM is available at www.skyla-us.com/index.php and at labeling.bayerhealthcare.com/html/products/pi/Skyla_PPI.pdf (PDF).
If you are interested in SkylaTM, schedule a consult with a Health Services medical provider by calling (208) 426-1459.
Patient Satisfaction Survey
Posted: January 28, 2013
Thank you to all of our patients for participating in our October patient satisfaction survey. Overall 90% were satisfied with the treatment received, 98% were satisfied with the friendliness of our check-in staff and 91% would recommend the Health Center to others. However, some concerns you voiced were regarding privacy at check-in and notification/reminders of appointments or changes to appointments. To help improve your satisfaction we have/are initiating the following:
Privacy at Check-In
A remodel of the check-in space is currently being designed to increase the privacy for Health Center patients. The remodel is planned to take place during the summer of 2013 in order to minimize the inconvenience to patients.
Appointment Notification/Reminders
Health Services is currently in the process of implementing a Secure Patient Portal as a way for patients to securely communicate with their providers. In addition, another convenience we will be offering soon is the ability to remind patients of their upcoming appointments with a reminder text message. Please stay tuned for updates when these services will be available.
