    Alison earned a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan in 2009. As part of her graduate work she completed an internship in Health Psychology with Henry Ford Hospital, in Detroit, Michigan. She believes that therapy is an opportunity for individuals to learn and apply a variety of tools to help manage major stressors as well as day to day events. Alison sees herself as a coach or mentor, working with clients to fine tune the skills they need to make their world a place where they are able to feel comfortable. She spends her free time with family, friends, and enjoys volunteering in the community.

    Kelsey attended Boise State University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology,
    Bachelor of Arts in Multi-Ethnic Studies, and minor in Basque Studies. She then went on to
    receive her Master of Science in Counseling, Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling, from
    Northwest Nazarene University. Kelsey’s professional experiences and interests include marital
    therapy, blended families, rural mental health, spirituality, social justice, and multiculturalism.
    Although a generalist, her approach to counseling is systemic in foundation and works from a
    cognitive behavioral therapy theoretical orientation. She sees the counseling relationship as a
    partnership through which clients can identify their inner strengths to assist them in overcoming
    obstacles and finding healing. In her free time, Kelsey is often in the foothills, cycling, on the
    Basque block, and at pug-related activities.

    Kathryn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Religion and a concentration in Nutrition Sciences from Baylor University. She earned her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Adolescents from the University of North Texas and is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor. Prior to coming to Boise State, Kathryn worked in both inpatient and partial hospitalization programs for eating disorder treatment, gaining experience with those struggling with anxiety, depression, self-harm, crises, relational issues, personality disorders, along with other mental health issues. She has experience with individual, group, and family therapy, as well as facilitating therapeutic meals with individuals and families. Kathryn operates from a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy approach, with a focus on family systems. Kathryn enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, baking, as well as taking advantage of all the beautiful adventures Idaho offers.

    Wesley received a Bachelor of Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication from Arizona State University in 2000, later obtained a Master of Business Administration, and is in his final year of a Master of Social Work program. Throughout Wesley’s 20-year career, he has worked in various management and practitioner roles within the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, interfacing extensively with the mental health field. As a crisis worker at the Suicide Hotline, Wesley helped people navigate overwhelming challenges. He approaches counseling compassionately from a ACT/cognitive-behavioral paradigm, helping people change their relationship with pain and uncomfortable feelings in a safe environment. This approach emphasizes mindfulness, opening up, and creating a meaningful life based on values and strengths. His clinical interests include sexuality, life transitions, relationships, anxiety/OCD, stress, identity, and LGBT issues. He is currently working toward becoming a Certified Sex Therapist to help people develop and maintain a healthy and fulfilling sex life. In his personal time, Wesley enjoys music, dancing, backpacking, making jewelry, and connecting with friends and family.

    Dr. Wilkinson specializes in Family Medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine. She received her doctor of medicine from the University of California, San Diego. She completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho, where she now serves as the fellowship Director. Dr. Wilkinson runs the sports medicine clinic at Health Services where she treats orthopedic injuries and sports-related medical conditions.

    Christine Chandler received both her Bachelors and Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Throughout her 32-year career in Nursing, Christine has served the poor, the underserved and the disenfranchised working in public, community, home, and reproductive health. Christine and her husband moved to Boise in 2015 after living in Alaska, Wisconsin, and New York. Before joining the Health Services team, Christine worked in primary care for small clinics and the VA.  In her free time, she enjoys biking, hiking, and gardening.

    Danielle graduated from Boise State University with her Bachelor’s degree in Communications. Danielle joined Health Services in August of 2017 as the Administrative Assistant. She has several years of experience in the healthcare field having interned with the health content companies and medical professional associations. Danielle has also volunteered with several local hospitals and health advocating fundraisers.  Danielle is interested in the field of therapy and is currently preparing for graduate school in the future. In her free time, Danielle enjoys reading, writing, art, watching and playing sports, music, and spending quality time with friends and family.

    Matt Niece is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and a state registered supervisor. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boise State University, and both a masters of mental health counseling and a doctorate in counselor education and counseling from Idaho State University. Prior to re-joining the team here at University Health Services, Dr. Niece served the communities of Boise, Meridian, and Nampa through work at various counseling agencies. Dr. Niece also maintains a private practice in Boise, and has been adjunct for Boise State University, College of Idaho, College of Western Idaho, and currently with Idaho State University at the undergraduate and masters level. His clinical interests include working with students, faculty and staff who struggle with anxiety and depressive issues especially in regards to relationships and major life transitions, counseling student-athletes, self-worth, LGBT+ issues, and group therapy. Professionally he is driven to advocate for all clients, the counseling profession and the efficacy of integrated health services. Outside of work one might find him taking advantage of the endless outdoor activities that the Boise valley has to offer, wood working, or traveling with his friends and family.

    Penny Rea received her Master’s degree in Nursing from Boise State University in 2016. She became a board certified Adult/ Gerontology Nurse Practitioner in 2017 through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Penny has over 12 years of previous experience in mental health nursing working as a RN at a local hospital. Her practice philosophy is to build partnerships with her patients through advocacy, leadership and holistic medicine. She believes in providing healthcare that will help patients reach their desired health goals and enable healing. In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors by horseback riding, boating with her family and skiing the local resorts.

    Alyee received her bachelor's degrees in Fine Art and Psychology from Marian University in 2016 and is currently a third year student in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Boise State University. Alyee has experience working in inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs with teens and adults struggling with eating disorders and chemical addictions. In addition to interning at Health Services, Alyee also interns at an eating disorder facility, where she is pursuing credentials as a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist. Alyee is actively involved with the local refugee community and is passionate about advocacy and education. Alyee also enjoys and has experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship issues. In her free time, Alyee enjoys running, hiking, painting, and traveling all over the world.

    Jennifer joined the Counseling Services team in August 2018 as a Social Work Trainee for the 2018-19 school year. She is currently completing her final year of the MSW program at Columbia University. Prior to embarking on her MSW degree, Jennifer realized her passion for helping others when she transitioned from her role as a competitive figure skater to a coach. Last year, Jennifer served as an intern for the Providence Public School Department where she worked with the students and community at two low-income elementary schools in Cranston, Rhode Island. As a counselor, Jennifer focuses on providing an empathetic and supportive environment while empowering her clients to reach their goals. Jennifer received her undergraduate degree in Communications from BSU in 2012 and is very excited to be back at Boise State in this new role. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her two nephews, running on the Greenbelt and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

    B.J. is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has a masters and bachelors degree in social work from Boise State. He has experience providing individual and group therapy for a broad range of mental health issues to include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, severe and persistent mental illness, self-esteem, relationships issues, and co-occurring disorders. B.J. tends to work from an existential and cognitive-behavioral approach in order to create a therapeutic environment that promotes healing and also fosters emotional resiliency and strength. In his spare time he enjoys being in the outdoors with family and friends.

    Natalie received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Washington State University in 2013 and graduated from the Masters of Social Work program at Boise State University in 2018. She has experience working in residential treatment and transitional living programs. She has worked with individuals suffering from disorders such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders and substance abuse. She is pursuing certifications in Body Positivity and Positive Sexuality. In addition to working at Health Services, Natalie also works at the Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline as a backup phone room supervisor, and in the community as a clinician. She enjoys being a part of individual recovery and finds value in the resilience of the human spirit. When not at work Natalie enjoys hiking, climbing, skiing, and being in the outdoors with friends and family.

    Katelynn was born and raised in Boise Idaho.  She joined Health Services in the Fall of 2015 and has worked in the Medical/Health field for the last 10 years. Her position includes scheduling patient appointments, remedying patient phone calls and her main focus is providing excellent customer service. Her favorite aspect of the job is interacting with all patients and assisting to their needs at Health Services. Prior to her position at Boise State, she worked for a local Home Care Agency in the HR department.  In her spare time, Katelynn enjoys spending time with her Fiancé’ and their puppy as well as extended family and traveling as much as she can.

    Jessica received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Boise State University.  She then went on to earn her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University.  Jessica has extensive experience working in the mental health field as a community-based provider.  Her professional interests include working with young adults to help them navigate major life transitions, stress, social concerns, and mental health issues.  Jessica views the relationship between counselor and client as the most important factor in facilitating change and wellness. She strives to provide a safe, open, and supportive environment for every individual she counsels. Outside of work, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family and taking advantage of the vast wilderness access and outdoor recreation that Idaho has to offer.

    Bennett earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Boise State University 2016. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from Boise State University in 2017. Bennett is a Licensed Master of Social Work within the State of Idaho. During her education, she worked with the Veteran population through her internships at Idaho State Veteran’s Home and the Boise VA Medical Center. She enjoys working with a range of mental health struggles including; anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use, and persistent/severe mental illness. Bennett works within a generalist approach; however leans towards a cognitive -behavioral and a person-centered modality.   Her favorite part of the job is being able to encourage empowerment and foster resilience with those she works within the Boise State University community. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, with her dog and cat, and attending concerts.

    Denise was born and raised in Michigan where she obtained her Bachelors in Exercise Physiology at Central Michigan University. She continued her education in Chicago obtaining her registered nursing license in 2002. She received her Master’s degree in Family Practice at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix in 2016. She worked in various fields in nursing specializing in cardiology and electrophysiology but now loves the variety in family practice. She strives to reach a management plan collaboratively with her clients taking into consideration their goals, time and cost. She enjoys offering alternative options and staying current in the constantly evolving medical world. In her free time, she loves to be outdoors year-round exercising, traveling, reading and exploring with her husband and their two very active dogs. She also volunteers at the Idaho Humane Society and loves doing outreach programs and medical missions.

    Ayako is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC). After moving to the United States from Japan for college, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Boise State University and Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University. Before joining the Boise State counseling services, she has worked in community counseling agencies and had her own private practice. Ayako’s clinical interests include depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, cultural issues, self-worth, and LGBTQ+ issues. Her counseling approach is person-centered which emphasizes the importance in the relationship between the counselor and client in order to facilitate healing, growth, and change. Ayako is an EMDR trained, LGBTQ affirming counselor. In her free time Ayako likes to eat, hike, do yoga, explore new places and things, watch too much TV, and spend time with friends and family.

    Zach has been practicing massage therapy since 2014 and is also an ACE Certified Personal trainer. He specializes in sports conditioning and rehabilitation massage, as well as Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release techniques, and implementing corrective exercise. Zach enjoys helping others create healthy habits that lead to a more comfortable and pain-free lifestyle. In his downtime, Zach enjoys cuddling with his dogs and watching cartoons.

    Laura grew up in Colombia and Mexico and came to the United States for college where she earned a BA in Art and Spanish from Taylor University and Master of Science and Education Specialist degrees in Counseling and Counselor Education from Indiana University. She is a licensed school and professional counselor and a registered supervisor. Laura’s approach to counseling is to combine clinical, educational, and life experience in a collaborative process related to gaining efficacy, tools, and hope in navigating life’s challenges in both the short and long term. Laura’s professional experience is with cultural, career, and life transitions, substance use, spiritual and existential issues, group processes, depression, and anxiety. Laura’s downtime and relaxation involve dollar movies, finding the humor and joy in parenting teens and adventurous cooking and eating. She finds Bob Ross painting shows spellbinding.

    Cara received her Bachelor in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design from Boise State University in 2014.  During her sophomore year she became a promotions intern at University Health Services and has been apart of the promotions and marketing team ever since. Cara is responsible for the graphic design and promotion of all items housed under University Health Services. Her favorite part of the job is the opportunity to be creative and work on a variety of projects daily. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog, cooking, and thrift shopping.

    Christy is currently working on completing her Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Management with an emphasis on Cybersecurity and a minor in Psychology and Criminal Justice at Boise State University. She has eight years of experience working in customer service with a variety of different businesses.  Throughout these jobs, her focus was on the customer and providing them with an excellent experience. Christy joined University Health Services in the fall of 2015, and her job includes medical record management as well as being an assistant to the Director of Business Operations. Her favorite aspect of the job is interacting with all the patients that visit University Health Services. Christy loves paddle boarding, reading, and spending her free time with her family, friends, and dog.

    Holly earned a masters degree in public health from The Ohio State University in 2013 . She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Health Promotion from Morehead State University in 2011.  Holly is a Cooper Institute trained Health Coach, as well as a Certified Health Education Specialist. Holly joined University Health Services in 2013, and focuses mainly on coordinating both the employee wellness program and the Peer Health Education program. She enjoys creating opportunities on campus for people to engage in their own health and well being. In her free time, Holly loves to walk her dog, hike new trails, bake, and spend time with her family and friends.

    As Licensed Massage Therapist, Jennifer joined the University Health Services team in Spring of 2016. She specializes in deep tissue, trigger point therapy, acupressure and aromatherapy for pain relief. Jennifer has over 15 years of experience in providing massage therapy. Jennifer's favorite aspect of her job is to provide clients with educational tips that promote health and well being that can be incorporated into their daily routines.  Her personal mantra would definitely be, love life and it will love you back!

    Jennifer earned her Associates Degree from Treasure Valley Community College, and became a registered Medical Assistant certified through American Medical Technologist (AMT) in 2007. Prior to joining University Health Services in 2013, Jennifer worked in a variety of outpatient settings including home care, hospice, internal medicine, urology, urgent care, chronic pain and ear/nose/throat.  Jennifer enjoys working with students, faculty and staff and helping them stay healthy. In her free time, Jennifer can be found fly fishing or painting.

    Dr. Jones obtained her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. Her psychiatry residency was completed at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. In Idaho, she has worked in a wide variety of clinical and educational settings. Dr. Jones joined Health Services as a part time employee in February of 2015, then making the transition to full time in September of 2015. Her professional interests include primary care psychiatry, women’s mental health issues, combining psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy and student health. She believes establishing and nurturing the doctor /patient alliance is vital to providing effective medical care. Dr. Jones works with students and employees to establish obtainable treatment goals. Helping students and employees achieve their best selves is an especially rewarding part of her job. She appreciates the natural beauty of Idaho and the infectious enthusiasm of Bronco football fans.

    John earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. John joined Boise State University in 2010 as the Business Manager. In his current role, he is responsible for providing financial vision and support for University Health Services. Prior to joining the team at Boise State University, John held various finance and supply chain positions in the Boise region, most notably with Ore-Ida Foods and Cott Beverage. In his spare time, John enjoys camping, hiking, photography and golf.

    Julee received her LPN degree and IV Certification in North Dakota and has 35 years of nursing experience in Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Dermatology. She recently moved to Idaho and was lucky enough to obtain a nursing position with Boise State University in Spring of 2016. Julee feels every day is rewarding when you work in health care.  Her favorite aspect of the job is the rewarding feeling she gets when patients come to University Health Services to receive care. She feels it’s a lot of fun to be involved in the lives of the students, faculty and staff at Boise State.  Outside of work Julee enjoys yoga, any outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

    As part of the leadership team, Julia oversees the clinical flow, processes, and day-to-day operations.  She also oversees Health Services’ regulatory and compliance requirements, and takes the lead on Quality Assurance activities. Julia has a unique background in both nursing and business management. She was the director of a large in-patient cardiac unit in one of Boise’s large health systems.  She also worked as the Practice Administrator of a multi-site nephrology practice for a number of years and managed all aspects of the business and clinical care. Julia is interested in providing each patient with individualized care that meets their own needs.  She believes that Health Services is in a unique position to not only give that level of care, but to also teach the patients about life-long health. Julia has lived in Idaho most of her life and loves the four seasons.  She gravitates to outside activities with her family and friends like running, hiking, and gardening.

    Katie earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree through Boise State University's Applied Technology program and graduated with honors in 2007. Katie worked as a nurse in several settings and has worked with a variety of patient populations including adults, children, babies and hospice patients. She joined the University Health Services team in November of 2011, focusing on the patient and their well being. Her favorite aspect of the job is getting to build lasting relationships with each of the students. In her free time, Katie enjoys interacting with her community and spending quality time with family.

    MarLee graduated from Utah State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition where she also worked as the Campus Dietitian and lived by the motto “Never trust a dietitian who doesn’t like ice cream.” She was recognized as the Young Dietitian of the Year in 2013 by the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  As the University Health Services Dietitian since 2015, a registered dietitian nutritionist for over nine years, and a human since birth, MarLee enjoys talking about and eating good food. MarLee works with clients of all ages, turning nutrition and behavior change research into practical tips for a balanced lifestyle. Look for her around campus sharing nourishing and delicious ways to live well. MarLee appreciates combining science and creativity to make food work for you. In her free time she enjoys baking, playing tennis, hosting dinner parties, reading, and spending time outside.

    Mark earned his Associate of Occupational Studies in Medical Specialties degree in 2010 at Stevens-Henager College in Boise, Idaho. Mark joined the Health Services staff as a Customer Service Representative in 2013. He has had over 18 years of customer service experience throughout his career.     Michelle received her doctorate in Kinesiology from Iowa State University with an emphasis in health promotion. She received her Master's degree from the University of Louisville in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in cardiac rehabilitation, and her Bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville in Sport Administration.  Michelle has experience working in many different work-site wellness programs and she was also a professor in the Kinesiology Department at Iowa State University. As the Director of Wellness, Michelle has the opportunity to work with both students and employees on maintaining and/or improving their overall well-being. A big focus of her job is the BroncoFit wellness initiative, which targets the dimensions of wellness including: physical, emotional, social, financial, environmental, spiritual, and professional/intellectual.  Through BroncoFit, Michelle hopes to change the overall culture and environment at Boise State University to make healthy lifestyle choices the easy and preferred choice. Her favorite aspect of the job is seeing people make simple changes that have a huge positive impact on their lives. Michelle is passionate about being outdoors and enjoys activities that get her outside to enjoy this beautiful state in which we all live; such as trail running, alpine/nordic skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping.

    Mike earned his doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Practice with a cognate area in Multicultural Counseling from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD. He earned his Master of Science in Education degree in Counseling and Guidance with cognate area in Community Counseling from Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD. Mike has counseling work experience in a variety of settings, including adolescent youth placement facilities, college/university counseling centers, private-practice community mental health counseling, out-patient treatment for DUI Court referrals, and out-patient treatment for opiate addicted patients. He also logged seven years as a counselor educator with the Boise State University Department of Counselor Education. Mike has worked toward becoming an effective general mental health practitioner while emphasizing the roles played by culture, addiction, and trauma in the lives of the people who seek him out. His counseling approach is humanistic/systemic with a focus on intentionality in the process of counseling to facilitate change. He works to emphasize empowerment/encouragement of the client through the therapeutic relationship and alliance, the development of client self and social awareness, and client self-healing capacity. Mike has also been known to use storytelling, art, and music in therapy. Mike enjoys playing the guitar and ukulele in his spare time, and volunteering with various Native American programs in the Boise area.

    Dr. Wolfe graduated with high honors with a bachelor's degree in microbiology from the University of Montana in 1998. She then went on to complete her medical degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. She joined the Montana Family Medicine Residency program in Billings, MT, where she completed her residency training and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Wolfe then joined the United States Air Force, where she served as an active duty physician at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT. After leaving active duty, she then joined a multispecialty clinic in Missoula, MT, where she practiced for five years.  Dr. Wolfe joined University Health Services in September of 2013 where her interests include general and procedural medicine, including skin biopsies and lesion removal, toenail removals, and IUD (intrauterine device) placement. In her free time, Dr. Wolfe enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, as well as participating in and watching a variety of different sports.

Susan has over 10 years of experience in the medical billing industry performing everything from supervision of a team, charge entry, deposit entry, submission of insurance claims, chart auditing, accounts receivable, and patient collections. Susan’s current position with Boise State University Health Services is; submission of Insurance claims, review of insurance payments for correct reimbursement, liaison between the patient, University Health Center, and Insurance companies, and claims follow up for unpaid or under paid claims. Susan’s favorite aspect of the job is advising and educating the patient in the process to become advocates of their own personal health.

    Verla became a Registered Medical Assistant through American Medical Technologists (AMT) in 2004.  Verla joined University Health Services in 2005 and assists the medical providers with various procedures, taking vitals, drawing blood and keeping patient appointments moving smoothly.  She absolutely loves working with the students, faculty and staff on campus.  Verla likes to think of herself as a second mom to students who are living away from home. Working with the various students, faculty and staff on campus has helped her become more open-minded and accepting.  In her free time, Verla enjoys working in her yard every spring and summer, as well as practicing her banjo (and hopes to perfect her craft well enough that someone will be able to recognize what tune she's playing).

    As part of the leadership team, Julia oversees the clinical flow, processes, and day-to-day operations.  She also oversees Health Services’ regulatory and compliance requirements, and takes the lead on Quality Assurance activities. Julia has a unique background in both nursing and business management. She was the director of a large in-patient cardiac unit in one of Boise’s large health systems.  She also worked as the Practice Administrator of a multi-site nephrology practice for a number of years and managed all aspects of the business and clinical care. Julia is interested in providing each patient with individualized care that meets their own needs.  She believes that Health Services is in a unique position to not only give that level of care, but to also teach the patients about life-long health. Julia has lived in Idaho most of her life and loves the four seasons.  She gravitates to outside activities with her family and friends like running, hiking, and gardening.

She continued her education in Chicago obtaining her registered nursing license in 2002. She received her Master’s degree in Family Practice at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix in 2016. She worked in various fields in nursing specializing in cardiology and electrophysiology but now loves the variety in family practice. She strives to reach a management plan collaboratively with her clients taking into consideration their goals, time and cost. She enjoys offering alternative options and staying current in the constantly evolving medical world. In her free time, she loves to be outdoors year-round exercising, traveling, reading and exploring with her husband and their two very active dogs.     Dr. Jones obtained her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. Her psychiatry residency was completed at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. In Idaho, she has worked in a wide variety of clinical and educational settings. Dr. Jones joined Health Services as a part time employee in February of 2015, then making the transition to full time in September of 2015. Her professional interests include primary care psychiatry, women’s mental health issues, combining psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy and student health. She believes establishing and nurturing the doctor /patient alliance is vital to providing effective medical care. Dr. Jones works with students and employees to establish obtainable treatment goals. Helping students and employees achieve their best selves is an especially rewarding part of her job. She appreciates the natural beauty of Idaho and the infectious enthusiasm of Bronco football fans.

She recently moved to Idaho and was lucky enough to obtain a nursing position with Boise State University in Spring of 2016. Julee feels every day is rewarding when you work in health care.  Her favorite aspect of the job is the rewarding feeling she gets when patients come to University Health Services to receive care. She feels it’s a lot of fun to be involved in the lives of the students, faculty and staff at Boise State.  Outside of work Julee enjoys yoga, any outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

    MarLee graduated from Utah State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition where she also worked as the Campus Dietitian and lived by the motto “Never trust a dietitian who doesn’t like ice cream.” She was recognized as the Young Dietitian of the Year in 2013 by the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  As the University Health Services Dietitian since 2015, a registered dietitian nutritionist for over nine years, and a human since birth, MarLee enjoys talking about and eating good food. MarLee works with clients of all ages, turning nutrition and behavior change research into practical tips for a balanced lifestyle. Look for her around campus sharing nourishing and delicious ways to live well. MarLee appreciates combining science and creativity to make food work for you. Her favorite aspect of the job is seeing people make simple changes that have a huge positive impact on their lives. Michelle is passionate about being outdoors and enjoys activities that get her outside to enjoy this beautiful state in which we all live; such as trail running, alpine/nordic skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping.

    Alison earned a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan in 2009. As part of her graduate work she completed an internship in Health Psychology with Henry Ford Hospital, in Detroit, Michigan. She believes that therapy is an opportunity for individuals to learn and apply a variety of tools to help manage major stressors as well as day to day events. Alison sees herself as a coach or mentor, working with clients to fine tune the skills they need to make their world a place where they are able to feel comfortable. She spends her free time with family, friends, and enjoys volunteering in the community.

    B.J. is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has a masters and bachelors degree in social work from Boise State. He has experience providing individual and group therapy for a broad range of mental health issues to include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, severe and persistent mental illness, self-esteem, relationships issues, and co-occurring disorders. B.J. tends to work from an existential and cognitive-behavioral approach in order to create a therapeutic environment that promotes healing and also fosters emotional resiliency and strength. In his spare time he enjoys being in the outdoors with family and friends.

    Matt Niece is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and a state registered supervisor. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boise State University, and both a masters of mental health counseling and a doctorate in counselor education and counseling from Idaho State University. Prior to re-joining the team here at University Health Services, Dr. Niece served the communities of Boise, Meridian, and Nampa through work at various counseling agencies. Dr. Niece also maintains a private practice in Boise, and has been adjunct for Boise State University, College of Idaho, College of Western Idaho, and currently with Idaho State University at the undergraduate and masters level. His clinical interests include working with students, faculty and staff who struggle with anxiety and depressive issues especially in regards to relationships and major life transitions, counseling student-athletes, self-worth, LGBT+ issues, and group therapy. Professionally he is driven to advocate for all clients, the counseling profession and the efficacy of integrated health services. Outside of work one might find him taking advantage of the endless outdoor activities that the Boise valley has to offer, wood working, or traveling with his friends and family.

    Natalie received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Washington State University in 2013 and graduated from the Masters of Social Work program at Boise State University in 2018. She has experience working in residential treatment and transitional living programs. She has worked with individuals suffering from disorders such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders and substance abuse. She is pursuing certifications in Body Positivity and Positive Sexuality. In addition to working at Health Services, Natalie also works at the Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline as a backup phone room supervisor, and in the community as a clinician. She enjoys being a part of individual recovery and finds value in the resilience of the human spirit. When not at work Natalie enjoys hiking, climbing, skiing, and being in the outdoors with friends and family.

    Jessica received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Boise State University.  She then went on to earn her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University.  Jessica has extensive experience working in the mental health field as a community-based provider.  Her professional interests include working with young adults to help them navigate major life transitions, stress, social concerns, and mental health issues.  Jessica views the relationship between counselor and client as the most important factor in facilitating change and wellness. She strives to provide a safe, open, and supportive environment for every individual she counsels. Outside of work, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family and taking advantage of the vast wilderness access and outdoor recreation that Idaho has to offer.

    Bennett earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Boise State University 2016. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from Boise State University in 2017. Bennett is a Licensed Master of Social Work within the State of Idaho. During her education, she worked with the Veteran population through her internships at Idaho State Veteran’s Home and the Boise VA Medical Center. She enjoys working with a range of mental health struggles including; anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use, and persistent/severe mental illness. Bennett works within a generalist approach; however leans towards a cognitive -behavioral and a person-centered modality.   Her favorite part of the job is being able to encourage empowerment and foster resilience with those she works within the Boise State University community.     Kelsey attended Boise State University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology,
    Bachelor of Arts in Multi-Ethnic Studies, and minor in Basque Studies. She then went on to
    receive her Master of Science in Counseling, Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling, from
    Northwest Nazarene University. Kelsey’s professional experiences and interests include marital
    therapy, blended families, rural mental health, spirituality, social justice, and multiculturalism.
    Although a generalist, her approach to counseling is systemic in foundation and works from a
    cognitive behavioral therapy theoretical orientation. She sees the counseling relationship as a
    partnership through which clients can identify their inner strengths to assist them in overcoming
    obstacles and finding healing. In her free time, Kelsey is often in the foothills, cycling, on the
    Basque block, and at pug-related activities.

    Kathryn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Religion and a concentration in Nutrition Sciences from Baylor University. She earned her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Adolescents from the University of North Texas and is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor. Prior to coming to Boise State, Kathryn worked in both inpatient and partial hospitalization programs for eating disorder treatment, gaining experience with those struggling with anxiety, depression, self-harm, crises, relational issues, personality disorders, along with other mental health issues. She has experience with individual, group, and family therapy, as well as facilitating therapeutic meals with individuals and families. Kathryn operates from a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy approach, with a focus on family systems. Kathryn enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, baking, as well as taking advantage of all the beautiful adventures Idaho offers.

    Alyee received her bachelor's degrees in Fine Art and Psychology from Marian University in 2016 and is currently a third year student in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Boise State University. Alyee has experience working in inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs with teens and adults struggling with eating disorders and chemical addictions. In addition to interning at Health Services, Alyee also interns at an eating disorder facility, where she is pursuing credentials as a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist. Alyee is actively involved with the local refugee community and is passionate about advocacy and education. Alyee also enjoys and has experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship issues. In her free time, Alyee enjoys running, hiking, painting, and traveling all over the world.

    Jennifer joined the Counseling Services team in August 2018 as a Social Work Trainee for the 2018-19 school year. She is currently completing her final year of the MSW program at Columbia University. Prior to embarking on her MSW degree, Jennifer realized her passion for helping others when she transitioned from her role as a competitive figure skater to a coach. Last year, Jennifer served as an intern for the Providence Public School Department where she worked with the students and community at two low-income elementary schools in Cranston, Rhode Island. As a counselor, Jennifer focuses on providing an empathetic and supportive environment while empowering her clients to reach their goals. Jennifer received her undergraduate degree in Communications from BSU in 2012 and is very excited to be back at Boise State in this new role. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her two nephews, running on the Greenbelt and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

    Wesley received a Bachelor of Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication from Arizona State University in 2000, later obtained a Master of Business Administration, and is in his final year of a Master of Social Work program. Throughout Wesley’s 20-year career, he has worked in various management and practitioner roles within the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, interfacing extensively with the mental health field. As a crisis worker at the Suicide Hotline, Wesley helped people navigate overwhelming challenges. He approaches counseling compassionately from a ACT/cognitive-behavioral paradigm, helping people change their relationship with pain and uncomfortable feelings in a safe environment. This approach emphasizes mindfulness, opening up, and creating a meaningful life based on values and strengths. His clinical interests include sexuality, life transitions, relationships, anxiety/OCD, stress, identity, and LGBT issues. He is currently working toward becoming a Certified Sex Therapist to help people develop and maintain a healthy and fulfilling sex life. In his personal time, Wesley enjoys music, dancing, backpacking, making jewelry, and connecting with friends and family.

    Laura grew up in Colombia and Mexico and came to the United States for college where she earned a BA in Art and Spanish from Taylor University and Master of Science and Education Specialist degrees in Counseling and Counselor Education from Indiana University. She is a licensed school and professional counselor and a registered supervisor. Laura’s approach to counseling is to combine clinical, educational, and life experience in a collaborative process related to gaining efficacy, tools, and hope in navigating life’s challenges in both the short and long term. Laura’s professional experience is with cultural, career, and life transitions, substance use, spiritual and existential issues, group processes, depression, and anxiety. Laura’s downtime and relaxation involve dollar movies, finding the humor and joy in parenting teens and adventurous cooking and eating. She finds Bob Ross painting shows spellbinding.

    Ayako is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC). After moving to the United States from Japan for college, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Boise State University and Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University. Before joining the Boise State counseling services, she has worked in community counseling agencies and had her own private practice. Ayako’s clinical interests include depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, cultural issues, self-worth, and LGBTQ+ issues. Her counseling approach is person-centered which emphasizes the importance in the relationship between the counselor and client in order to facilitate healing, growth, and change. Ayako is an EMDR trained, LGBTQ affirming counselor. In her free time Ayako likes to eat, hike, do yoga, explore new places and things, watch too much TV, and spend time with friends and family.

    Mike earned his doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Practice with a cognate area in Multicultural Counseling from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD. He earned his Master of Science in Education degree in Counseling and Guidance with cognate area in Community Counseling from Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD. Mike has counseling work experience in a variety of settings, including adolescent youth placement facilities, college/university counseling centers, private-practice community mental health counseling, out-patient treatment for DUI Court referrals, and out-patient treatment for opiate addicted patients. He also logged seven years as a counselor educator with the Boise State University Department of Counselor Education. Mike has worked toward becoming an effective general mental health practitioner while emphasizing the roles played by culture, addiction, and trauma in the lives of the people who seek him out. His counseling approach is humanistic/systemic with a focus on intentionality in the process of counseling to facilitate change. He works to emphasize empowerment/encouragement of the client through the therapeutic relationship and alliance, the development of client self and social awareness, and client self-healing capacity. Mike has also been known to use storytelling, art, and music in therapy. Mike enjoys playing the guitar and ukulele in his spare time, and volunteering with various Native American programs in the Boise area.

    Susan is a Certified Family Practice Coder, CFPC. Susan holds a certification in Family Practice Coding, and a certificate in ICD-10 diagnostic coding. Susan is a member of AAPC- American Academy of Professional Coders. Susan has over 10 years of experience in the medical billing industry performing everything from supervision of a team, charge entry, deposit entry, submission of insurance claims, chart auditing, accounts receivable, and patient collections. Susan’s current position with Boise State University Health Services is; submission of Insurance claims, review of insurance payments for correct reimbursement, liaison between the patient, University Health Center, and Insurance companies, and claims follow up for unpaid or under paid claims. Susan’s favorite aspect of the job is advising and educating the patient in the process to become advocates of their own personal health.
